These are Caramelized-Kimchi Baked Potatoes from Eric Kim's beautiful cookbook Korean American. The kimchi is caramelized using bacon fat, sesame oil and a sprinkle of sugar. We decided to make this for lunch today, and I'm so glad we did!
This is Mother of All Milk Bread from Mooncakes + Milk Bread by Kristina Cho of @eatchofood . It is the first challenge from the May-June baking selection of #rainydaybitescookbookclub hosted by the wonderful @rainydaybites .
My son and I made this simple and delicious tortellini salad for the brunch we made for my wife for Mother's Day. Stop by the blog to read more about it and to check out the recipe!
Honeyed Biscuits with Refrigerator Jam - What a great start to the May #cookbookchallenge from #rainydaybitescookbookclub ! This recipe is from Korean American by @ericjoonho . The recipe is a simple drop biscuit that is drizzled with honey then sprinkled with sugar. The strawberry jam is made with the zest and juice of a clementine which turns the jam into a delight for the senses. I took the advice of Gretchen @feedingmy3sons and reduced the sugar in the jam by half, and it was perfect!
Having a little fun with chickpeas on the blog this week! From a quick and easy hummus recipe to a baked appetizer that uses some of the hummus as an ingredient.
Today I'm bringing Butterscotch Pudding to the #rainydaybitescookbookclub party! These sweet delights are from Cheryl Day's Treasury of Southern Baking. This recipe starts with a buttery caramel, and features vanilla bean infused cream and sea salt. It is finished by baking in a Bain-marie.
Spring has sprung! It's time to get our kitchen gardens in order! Read about my latest discovery on the blog. I'm going vertical!
I've said it many times before on the blog - carrying out old traditions brings us closer to those we have lost and sharing those memories with our children helps them to learn more about those people. My wife recently found her mother's recipe and directions for making a bunny cake. Her mother often made it for Easter and today my wife enjoyed sharing that memory with our son as they worked together to decorate the cake. Happy Easter!
Round 2 of our From Angie's Kitchen post - Easter cake revisted. In the this round we each take a shot at making some changes to the original recipe. Two bloggers with two different takes - sometimes they work out for one of us, sometimes both and sometimes for neither one! So how did this round turn out? Please drop by our blog to read more!

There are many things that I love about writing this blog. The sense of excitement that came from starting a new adventure after saying goodbye to my former longtime career, the satisfaction that came from finally doing something I had long dreamed about and recently, a new one that I had never even thought about […]

Ciabatta On A Snowy Day

In this week’s Q&A Karen asked me if I had any goal cooking projects this year, and the immediate thought that came to mind was making ciabatta. I have made several kinds of bread, but ciabatta is a favorite of mine and I have always wanted to try making it. I didn’t necessarily expect to […]
