Wednesday Q&A – 11/9/22

Ray’s question to Karen:

Q: During one of our visits to your house many years ago we teamed up for a family cooking project – Beef Wellington. I believe it was the first time any of us had ever attempted it. Have you ever tried making it again since then?

A: I have not! I do have a beautiful pastry book called The Pie Room by Calum Franklin of the Holborn Dining Room. His Beef Wellington is considered one of the best in London, but unless we have another team up, I don’t know if I have the guts to try making it. I guess we should try putting it on our never ending list of things to do!

Karen’s Question to Ray:

Q: Are there any new cooking techniques you are learning or plan to learn to learn in the near future?

A: Funny… I asked you a couple of weeks ago if you’ve ever cooked using the sous vide method, and that is what my answer is to your question today. It seems like an interesting method to try, and the Breville Fast, Slow, Go pot (think Instapot) that I was given as a gift from my family last Christmas includes it as one of the cooking modes.

I have to read a bit more about it, but it seems like my new pot has given me the opportunity to try!
