Wednesday Q&A – 6/15/22

Ray’s question to Karen:

Q: We officially opened the virtual doors to The Food In-Laws in March of 2021, but you wrote your first post ever in January of 2021. How do you feel your more recent posts have grown compared to your very first one?

A: I think it varies. Sometimes I feel like posts practically write themselves and the words fly onto the page with little effort. Other times I struggle. I sometimes struggle for ideas, or even the words to articulate what I’m trying to say. It is still very much a roller coaster!

Karen’s Question to Ray:

Q: Growing up, what was your favorite dish your mom cooked?

A: I will give you two, because they always seem to go together in my mind for some reason – her breaded chicken and her potato salad. Mom has been gone for 16 years now, but if I close my eyes and really think about it, I can still “taste” them in my mind.

I have come close when making her breaded chicken and a little less close with her potato salad, but they just don’t taste quite the same. I guess there’s just an element of magic that only a mother’s hands can bring to certain dishes from our childhood!
