Welcome to the place where your two bloggers ask each other one question each week. We hope you enjoy them as your learn a bit more about us – sometimes we even learn more about each other!
Ray’s question to Karen:
Q: Some time ago I asked you what is a challenging recipe that you really want to try one day and you said Croquembouche. You also added that perhaps you should first learn how to make a cream puff – have you made any progress with that initial goal?
A: No! I’ve thought about it, but I haven’t built up the courage! I think when considering making something daunting, you have to be in the perfect headspace.
Karen’s Question to Ray:
Q: On board the Titanic, the first class passengers enjoyed meals consisting of 11 courses. What is the maximum amount of courses you’ve consumed in a single meal?
A: If I am remembering correctly, I’d have to say 6. I remember Italian thanksgivings when I was pretty young at my grandma and aunt’s house. The course list went something like this:
- Salad
- Soup
- Some light (sarcasm) Italian dish like lasagna or manicotti because a full turkey dinner isn’t enough
- The main course – traditional turkey dinner
- Dessert, coffee and tea
- Fruit, nuts and cheeses
While I can still remember it, that tradition faded away when I was pretty young. Perhaps it was too much work for them, or maybe somebody simply realized that eating a month’s worth of food in one sitting wasn’t the best idea. I couldn’t even imagine – or stomach – having that much food at one meal today!
