Welcome to the place where your two bloggers ask each other one question each week. We hope you enjoy them as your learn a bit more about us – sometimes we even learn more about each other!
Ray’s question to Karen:
Q: What is something that your husband enjoys eating that you think is gross?
A: That would be raw tomatoes! He loves them. I absolutely do not. Occasionally I can stomach one on a sandwich, but often times I just have to remove the offending fruit! I actually like them cooked and in sauces. I’m not sure what that’s all about! Clearly there is either something I can taste that others can’t or vice versa.
Karen’s Question to Ray:
Q: Actually, I was just thinking of a similar question for you. I don’t like raw tomatoes, but love a good marinara. I don’t like liver and onions, but I love liverwurst. Do you have a food that you dislike in its natural state that you do like with certain preparations?
A: I have come back to this “easy” question a dozen times this past week and each time, nothing stood out immediately for me. While sitting in bed one night, the question popped into my head and still nothing came to mind. Then while mowing my lawn a few days later, the question came back to me once again… Driving around on my mower is one of my happy places – I listen to music and my mind is open and clear and often that is when blog ideas or other creative thoughts come to mind for me. I thought the answer would come for sure at that point, but still… nothing!
I don’t want to copy, but I am right there with you on the liver and liverwurst! I can think of several examples the other way around though. I also like raw tomatoes and I like sauce, but hot tomatoes that aren’t blended, like stuffed baked tomatoes, completely repulse me! Another example is brie – I love it, but when it is served baked and topped with some sort of fruit or sweet syrup, I can’t stand it!
